As the ever growing and busy race schedule of Team Idiot continues, the first round of the Eckington Trail Collective Mini DH was upon us.
“Whistle Belly Thump” was the track of choice, complete with its steep loamy switch backs, followed by a fast open descent littered with ruts and senders, the infamous 180˚ about turn and not to forget the delightful 50 metre flat sprint finish!

Well the eagerly anticipated Farmer John race had finally arrived and after much chaos and ado through the week organising numbers and vehicles it seemed the usual no-show suspects had struck again. This however, was not to upset the plans for the day and off the Idiots went like clockwork. Leading the way was John “Drifter” Pinder in his bike filled van followed debutant Matt Hardwick in his idiot carrier. John, living up to his name by drifting away and passing the required exit off the motorway soon redeemed himself by using his vast courier knowledge to lead the team back on track and keep time, despite the less than confident Ben at the rear showing small signs of panic. On arrival at the farm all the idiots were met with the impeccably timed Tom Broadhead and his newly found inspiration in way of support, girlfriend Naomi.

We arrived on Friday to find a nice dry Forest of Dean, this put everyone in high spirits, after a few runs it was clear dry tyres were needed, none of us could clearly remember the last time we had minions on!

First of all we would like to thank Mother Nature for seeing fit to let it chuck it down for 2 days solid before the race! The tracks were drenched, a bogfest was set!
We jumped out of the passion wagon and Bang! the banter started, back and forth it bounced harder then Daz from tree to tree. After marking out the track the racers began to filter up the hill all with big smiles and challenges galore spouting from even the most placid of rider.
Practice started with many comedy wipe outs and lots of whining at the bottom, so much so a vote decided whether to stick to the original format or not, everyone want to race both tracks and with a quick snap form the beard no winging was heard again. It was race time!

Team Idiot are putting an appearance at the Ilkley Mates Race on the 27th. We went up for a play on Saturday and loved the track, fast and totally natural with loads of cheeky lines.

Well Team Idiots first results are in with the Leeds boys storming in and actually pulling out some decent results. It was a brilliant day, nice and chilled even the pajama crews were friendly. It chucked it down the night before making the track the greasiest we had ridden it, seriously the beginning was hilarious and resulted in loads of comedy spills when you needed it the least. The rest of the track was a mine field of rocks just waiting to explode under your pedals on the most pedally track in the woods. When you finally got through the that you were faced with root after root, trees waiting to snatch your handle bars and to add a little more to mix there were two massive almost unrollable rocks in the race lines. Entering the bottom section you were faced with a mud bath leading you into the last section of off camber rooty goodness just to test your wits when you physically blown from all the pedaling, or that could have just been us?
